AUPS
Anti-personnel blast or fragmentation mine

The AUPS is an Italian Bakelite-cased AP blast mine that can have a metal jacket and tripwire fuze added to turn it into a stake mounted fragmentation mine. It is known to have been used extensively in Northern Mozambique.

Its main charge is 115g TNT/RDX (Composition B),

Without the fragmentation casing:
Height 36mm
Diameter 102mm
In blast mode, the mine is very hard to detect.

On the left is the blast mine, on the right the optional fragmentation jacket and the mine that was inside. The pressure fuze is on one side of the mine, the tripwire fuze on the other.

The fragmentation version was often deployed with a marbled plastic tripwire fuze which deteriorates under prolonged exposure to UV.
