Vegetation-removal accidents

Fewer than 4% of recorded accidents are Vegetation removal incidents - where the victim initiates the device while engaged in the removal of vegetation. There were more Vegetation removal accidents before machines were routinely deployed to prepare areas (cutting undergrowth) in advance of manual deminers.

Accidents do not always happen during a single activity. For example, a missed-mine may be located while cutting vegetation, or a detection accident may occur during a survey. All accidents with common features can be located by making a complex search using the database software. Unfortunately, it is only possible at this time to put the data on line - not the database software itself.

The list below are *.PDF files of the Vegetation-removal accident records held in the DDAS. Click on the record to open it in Adobe Reader. The later records tend to be the better detailed. Records marked with an * are larger, so more detailed or containing more pictures. Double or triple * indicates unusually large records.
